Word from Reflect.

The Admin of Reflect Games, Martin Crownover, (FredFredrickson on the Reflect forums and GMC,) has reviewed Element, and the response was good. He said it would make a good addition to the Reflect lieup, and that aesthetically speaking it looked good. Before it gets on there, a few things need to be addressed though.

~The global accounts may have too many variables for the site to handle properly. The solution is client sided accounts. In the short run, this may seem like a setback, as it means... You'll all have to start over. ( D: ) Speaking long term,however, this is a good thing. It means you'll never have to start over if we go to a new host again; it means that you can save in test play, and use the experience gained offline, online; and it means that saving will be faster, and more reliable than ever before.

~The bugs need to be addressed. It sounds like it needs to be a bit more stable before it's on the system. I think that is reasonable, and I intended on fixing the bugs at some point anyway, so this isn't news to you guys.

~I'll have to make the client and server one entity. There will still be a dedicated server mode, but this means that players will be able to host and play at the same time. The only reason this will have to be done is that one Reflect user can't be on two games at once with the same account, and the server would be a separate entity.

These are all small adjustments, it shouldn't hurt you guys too much, and I think the benefits greatly outweigh the short term ill effects:

~Real time server lists mean that anyone can host, and that you can join anyone's game without having to make a new character.

~Leaderboards help you keep track of your progress in comparison to other players, based on your level, PvP prowess, and reputation.

~Getting attention from Reflect's large userbase of OVER 9000!! members.

~Hopefully will allow us to create a patcher in the future.

Anyway, assuming this whole thing goes without incident, Beta 5 should be ready within a week. Shortly after Beta 5's release, we should be ready for Reflect.

Great news! Does this mean that a patcher is within the forseeable future? Also, if you want to reduce variables, I don't know how this would work for you, but I recently found ds_grids very handy in keeping my code clean. Again, not sure what they want exactly, but the news is still grand. Looking forward to this.

Well, a patcher will be possible, I don't know about inevitable, but it's possible.

I think I'd like to really help with the code and stuff. All i'd do is maybe see the entire thing then change something and then show you that piece or if it's a large complicated thing I'll just show you where the stuff is

Also I know a relatively easy way to encrypt numbers and maybe even letters so I could try and make an engine for encrypting user files. And also for the server still keep kenny's up and make is so his has a star or something because I want overcrowded servers! XD but not too overcrowded :p

so yeah, if you want me to help with any bugs even if you could probably solve them (to increase productivity) send me whatever you'd like but I'm more comfortable with the gmk file or if you'd not like that then just give me some code and wherever else some of the variables used in that are located. (I think it's possible to get object properties if you click some button)

Well, I already finished client sided accounts, and they're already encrypted, so there isn't much left to do with that.

Encrypted? That means I could not put myself lvl 39?

Not unless you are a highly skilled hacker and somehow get your hands on the encryption key.

There was a way when the accounts were server sided too. No computer file is totally and completely hacker-proof, this is evidenced by the multitude of commercial online games that get hacked every day. My job is simply to make it difficult enough to the point where it isn't worth it to the hacker.

Wow, I only remembered about reflect a week or so ago. This is great news for element. I remember when it was first brought up, only this time seems like it will finally make it.

Oops, I meant September 23rd, sorry for any confusion. It makes more sense to start the Fall quarter in late September, I think, as Fall doesn't officially begin until then.

Also, yeah, it's a meme, but it's also true. 9509 members as of me posting this.

Well, our current host can forward ports, so if Hamachi is your issue you should be able to play now.

Something crossed my mind recently after playing AHOVI. Will Element work in ways to gain reflect credits, or otherwise use them?
